Donebestdone is based around principles of spontaneous creation / production / reception, removing the distance between artist and observer, accelerating development and realization of ideas, images, sounds, words, or otherwise, and maximizing the symbiotic potentials of technology.
Our creations are generally as much or more so a product of the machines we use and the configurations thereof, than the individual choices about an aesthetic or specific goals. Egos are (largely) dropped, and the laboratory is alive and in cybernetic hive-mind mode.
Recently Donebestdone founding members have spread apart geographically, and can no longer continue collaboration face-to-face. We've been working on new methods of online collaboration which might allow for the spontaneous co-creation of projects.
Unitygain is a project not altogether unlike donebestdone.

Doug Aitken: "It seems it's not only that the culture of sampling is becoming more self-referential, but that the trends that make up the raw material are also living and dying more rapidly. They're recycled in a shorter amount of time and, as a result, there's an even wider range of material to draw from. I think that working in a nonlinear way is one method of handling this increasingly wide range of material."
