BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHW
-what can we do to prepare for the MKE st. project? work out compositions online? we could do a series of long-distance exchanges with the material we each have... Or we each could determine what we want to do individually to prepare media for the project. Something to keep in mind is that we're going to perform live for the mke st. thing. How do we want to format our time so that it's evident when we're performing and when we're screening composed pieces? (It might be more impactful if we generated all of the compositions live, but then the question remains how do we work with our media now to prepare it for a live performance context?)
[m] i dunno that it's really that nessecary that people know what's like and what's not 100% live. and we could always sort of blend the two by fucking around with larger more pre-composed clips...
we all have source. how about we each just come up with a 1-3 minute compostion using just the MKE st. source and turn it in my sunday night, oct. 1st. good?
[ J ] I propose starting a long-distance exchange, where we share media and start preparing it into a format that can be utilized for performance, as well as making longer compositions which could be screened. I also propose starting a web-page for it that could be exposed after the performance. We can start editing it now, adding content to it such aas the mke st. source files as clip pools and the composed final pieces, as well as anything else we work out individually, in a way that helps us prepare for the performance by seeing what each other are up to, and allowing us to download clip pools or resources (vegas files? composed film clips?) from the page. Alternately, we could just not go live with html and just share stuff via email and FTP. It would be quicker to get going with that because we wouldn't need to write the page up, and we wouldn't have to worry about how we were going to organize the page beforehand.
-what is the layout of the MIAD installation, and what are we screening? What is the concensus on the number of screens.
[m] yeah that sounds like a better use of the 4 screens. my only concern was that utilizing one whole screen just for some info crap was kind of a waste.
also, do you know if jamal wants these to have menus and shit or be on continuous loops. i've been talking to him about screening some beeple shit and he told me to make 2 copies, one loop and one menu one so they'd have more options of where to put it. do you know if he has a preference for our stuff J?
[ J ] I don't think I have the whole story here. I heard four? and I believe that mike said 2 audio/visual, one films and one info. So one would be live real-time work and one would be long distance? Not sure here. That could work, and I wouldn't have a problem with that but let me know if it's something different.
[k.]this is what i was thinking for screens:
1. live audio/video absrtact [ bleedthrough, enclaves of dust, pluggin stuff in, saties, etc ]
2. live audio/video beatbox [ emb7, what we just watched, etc ]
3. films / through composed things / other [ iter, kf, 4F, recital clips, kk vande piany, dvd menus? ect
4. long distance shite
5.? slide show of all our photographs...maybe the thing we already did and put to drone in c major for the wriston show
-what does each of us have?
(mke st.)
Field Recordings (some more recent than what Mike has)
I'm not sure of this at the moment, but I know I didn't wind up with whatever project files mike had made over the weekend, or movie clips .
I do know that I have the 2-minute sped up clip of the entirety of milwaukee st. at night.
[k.] i was thinking making a video concert poster with that clip
I have a brick crossfade video. Do we want to do anything with that?
[k.] that was just a test render. maybe do a slideshow with all our mke st photos projecting on a second screen throughout..i think that would def. match and fit the overal evening...and it could go on the whole night.
I also have digital camera abstracts from Kyle & my more recent trip down mke st.
Also Brent was telling me about his vidster camera and he quite possibly took it out with him to document the event, we could use his footage of people taking photographs of mke st w/ their lomo cameras if he indeed took the footage.
[k.] i personally feel that we have enough footage and media that we don't know what we're doing with already that adding more would be cumbersome.
-what does each of us have?
(MIAD installation)
[k.] j i gots what you gots.
[ J ]
Vegas Beatbox 2 (****Style)
Plugging Stuff In (Rehearsal)
Satie 2 (Weekend 1?2?)
Second Bad Vibel (KK vande recity)
Kid Farm
Kid Plut Itt (Rehearsal?''
Iterations to Kid Farm (Rehearsal?)
Iterations (Ride the Feedback)
ARATR Comp 1 (wknd zero)
Bleed Through (****style)
Brouise (1000 whispers)
First Dave Piece (1000 whispers)
Brakhage ( ****style)

EBM 7? (****style)
What We Just Watched (Rehearsal?)
Tape 1 - Clip 002 (A System Rearranged) Not sure what the title of this one is, it escapes me now. Dont' have a DVD burned.
[k.] hmmm is that the once with vince's face in it alot? if so, that would be Convergence...about 8 mins?
Tape 1 - Clip 039 (1000 Whispers?)
Tape 1 - Clip 048 (1000 whispers?) This one's like a plugging in ver. 2. Don't know the name.
Tape 1 - Clip 049 / enclaves of dust (1000 whispers)
Tape 1 - Clip 051 / hold on one second (1000 whispers)
Tape 1 - Clip 054 has Kid Farm bits and Mike's dad's face in it. also some sick beats. Don't know the name. Could that have been from 04.28.06 when we didn't make a DVD? hence perhaps it has no name. If that's the case, let's name it.
[k.] i think you're right j. didn't make it onto a dvd. how about "daddy face" or "petie pie"
Also several clips that were captured last weekend. There are a few good, short chunks here.
Those are all the high-qual. clips I have. If any editing is going to be done by me, it'll either have to be on these clips or I need to get them from someone.
[k.] i'd say for editing down, enclaves of dust, bleedthrough, twins, and well...you know whats good, or could be made good.
Anything else to incorporate into the MIAD exhibit?
[ J ] Photographic prints? Audio installation w/ Abstracts & Extracts or other tracks looped?
[k.] audio cd for sure. that's a great idea. also, i was thinking everyone pick their fav 10-15 pictures and we'll make 8x11 prints and display those as well, along with cd/dvd art (maybe just draw some up to demonsrate and put on display) and also make some prints of mike's drawings, or any kind of written notes, scribblings, ect. i would also be willing to chip in for some huge prints of some of your 6MP pics J. i think that would looking fucking sweet, and after the installment its ours to keep. also, what about previous poster art? my recital shite, gallery night, lovid....
[k.] i think we should really set our sights on blowing other artist out of the water....we are quantity and speed...not display 2 fucking photos and think they're gods gift to man.
[m] yeah except we don't have unlimited space. all these ideas are fine and dandy but i don't think jamal is gonna go for a giant pile of shit around our space. right now he's already giving us FOUR TV's...might want to run some of this other shit by him before we start investing any more time into talking about it/preparing it. hahah, i mean 30 8x11 prints? dude, that's like an entire wall.
